Filmmakers Wayne Gray and Dale Schierholt spent time with 100 year-old Virginia Oliver, known in Rockland, Maine as The Lobster Lady. This piece was filmed a year ago. Virginia Oliver is now 101 years of age, and still out on the cold coastal waters, banding lobsters her son hauls in from the traps. She still maintains her delightful girlish youthfulness — watch and see for yourself.

Great Story! Virginia is a wonderful lady, she is an Inspiration of grace, beauty and a joyful spirit of love and devotion. Courageous to still be working at the age of 101, in a very hard and potentially dangerous job, she was the boat captain at the age of 8. She says she is pretty independent- she has no idea how precious an American herroine she is. Her 3 sons come to dinner every Saturday night, her daughter at age 81, is probably right there with her. What an absolute delight she is! I think about her ancestors who first came to setle that beautiful area of our country, with such incredible courage, Faith, and determination to make a great life for their families.
Thank you for posting this excellent view of an American family’s life that has survived much and is still prospering. They are a fine example of quality living, and a Blessing to all of us. God has Blessed them, and us to know of them.
