  1. Very interesting theory of culture with many intelligent ideas which in the whole, give it quite a bit of credence!. Being a serious subject, I was relieved to hear him say this is a “passing ocurence” as I was able to see the reason for the premise by mentally looking back from preCivil War days to today. I never saw the value of trying to make America a “melting pot of different cultures” . As a Bible studied Christian, I could easily see that different cultures do not blend easily or well, throughout history.

I enjoyed this enough to want to read his book. I find his ideas on the reasons for the current ‘difficulties between cultures because of ignorance on both sides, which over time, have become reasons for war and killing, to be real and valid. These clashes have become more obvious to me over time, from living in a place, unfamiliar to me, and having many different cultures in small areas, causing all sorts of clashes and colisions. Mr. Lee’s speaks of a larger area having a greater divide between each culture, and having a much wider space of equality, wealth, and vastly different types of education and personality. In th US, education encompasses a very wide array of differences. Educational differences certainly do play a part in peaceful living, as do very wide differences in wealth and personality.

As time goes on, is it true always that acceptance of others and kindnesses once given naturally are thinned down or out, competition and jealousies increase? Add to that movement, a dose of greed and arrogance; will that combustion start riots, fights, and imagined reasons to start small and large wars?

Is this just Human nature in a bottle? Not enough space for so many differences? Blending religions does not work that well for a peaceful too small neighborhood where all of the other differences are obvious and strained? That is life now. I see many of the mixes coming together that do not blend easily. Was he speaking of the people in our government? They certainly do not get along until someone exerts power over the others, words are spoken, fences are built, and spearation of ideas forces them into separate groups. They then move forward as a Force to press their views onto others in order to either help everyone, or to advance their pet causes. What happened to “love thy neighbor”, or “Before you speak, is what you will say Kind, Necessary, Asked for, Helpful?” Over time, do all customs, courtesies and manners die off?
Maybe this is a sermon about the fact that everyone has faults but now, being louder, more talkative, less introverted, more self-involved, or more needy, we no longer have to tolerate others differences? What did happen to good manners? oh, never mind, tht was not part of this at all. Whatever the goal was, it was both interesting and exhausting. I am interested in what others thought of this. Thanks for posting it!

  2. The answer is not this complicated. Those behind the Afghan operation never had conquest as their objective, and they had a build-in excuse. The end result was this disgraceful pull-out meant to humiliate America and fund the Taliban. Therefore, the Afghan invasion was a success. Not for us, but for those who planned and benefitted by it. It was always meant to drain our treasury and kill our soldiers in a laboratory experiment where tactics can be observed and studied for future use. Perhaps here in the USA by other troops.
