A Day To Remember
What I believe Happened on June 1st 2020
Having just paused to remember “the day that will live in infamy,” I am reminded of all those veterans who sacrificed so much for our freedom. Sadly, the voices of those heroes are slowly disappearing like echoes through time. I don’t know of anyone who served or was there on December 7th 1941, but my wife’s grandfather was part of the second wave that stormed the beaches of Utah June 6th 1944. Before grandpa Miles passed away, he and I were sitting in his living room and we had a conversation where he shared his stories of DDay. I found out later that he never shared those stories with anyone else before…what a privilege and honor that was.
You know I am also reminded of what Donald Trump said about the CoVID biological attack. Do you recall what he said? He said, “Worse than Pearl Harbor.” Those words should not be taken lightly. I was not alive when the United States was attacked that Sunday morning of December 7th. However, it is probably safe to assume that those who were around then realized pretty quickly that history was being made…for good or bad. Upon reading Patel Patriot’s Devolution Part 8 a reference is made to Dan Scavino’s tweet on December 15th “historical moment in the Oval – will share what it is, one of these days, when I can.” Patel correctly points out that the picture below is from June 1st 2020. Should we take the words of Dan Scavino lightly; was June1st 2020 just another day and the tweet is just hyperbole or exaggeration? I am going on record as saying…no.
There is no question there was plenty going on that first day of June. Riots over George Floyd were erupting across the country, military aircraft hovering over these riots, and Trump walks over to a church for a photo op with a Bible. Remember, Trump is no stranger to theatrics and understands the importance of optics (think WWE). So, what is the importance of that photo op? Well, if you look at it through the lens of history…the future may very well prove the past. Maybe when we find out what ACTUALLY happened on June 1st then it will all make sense. I think I have stumbled on a clue.
While doing some research into another interesting character that was present that day (Mark Esper), I found this:
Esper broke with Trump by publicly opposing invocation of the Insurrection Act of 1807 and the deployment of active-duty troops in American cities, saying that “the National Guard is best suited for performing domestic support to civil authorities … I say this not only as Secretary of Defense, but also as a former soldier, and a former member of the National Guard. The option to use active duty forces in a law enforcement role should only be used as a matter of last resort, and only in the most urgent and dire of situations. We are not in one of those situations now. I do not support invoking the Insurrection Act.”[73] Esper took steps in the following days to further de-escalate the situation, removing weapons and ammunition from the National Guard, and returning troops to their home bases without notifying the White House. Trump reportedly considered firing Esper over the situation.[74]
There are two very important pieces of information in this text. I believe there were several reasons that Trump fired Mark Esper, but not the least of which was his objection to Trump enacting the insurrection act. For context, Trump was considering this because a report from Director of National Intelligence (DNI) John Ratcliffe was issued earlier and detailed China’s involvement in funding and providing logistical support for the riots across the country. A lot was happening this day. The other piece is that Mark Esper took steps on his own to de-escalate the matter. If you know Trump, you know he doesn’t like that.
Here is the question I have: if you are Mark Esper and you had convinced Trump not to enact the Insurrection Act then why take steps on your own that you know will get you fired? Mark’s actions are not those of someone who thinks Trump is not going to do something contrary to your recommended. What I am saying is that I believe despite Esper’s objection, Donald J Trump enacted the Insurrection Act on June 1st 2020.
It is possible many other things happened that day as well (hard to imagine much more), but I think there is plenty of circumstantial evidence to support that the Insurrection Act was enacted. Do I know this for a fact? All I can really do is connect the dots of what we know actually happened:
· George Floyd riots in many cities
· Surveillance aircraft over cities with riots
· DNI issued a report
· Trump meets with staff in Oval office
· Trump walks over to a church for a photo op
· Trump and Espers spar over Insurrection Act
· Two days later Esper takes action on his own
· Dan Scavino says that June 1st was a historic day
No one knows for sure what was done in the Oval office that day to be remembered because none of us were there. I would expect Dan Scavino will reveal it when he is able or maybe one day History will sit down with us and tell us stories like grandpa Miles once did. Maybe then we will know the true story of what happened on June 1st 2020. Until then, stay positive and know that we are winning!
