Supreme Court says Second Amendment guarantees right to carry guns in public

The ruling expands upon a 2008 decision that said the Second Amendment safeguards a person’s right to possess firearms at home for self-protection.
WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that the Constitution provides a right to carry a gun outside the home, issuing a major decision on the meaning of the Second Amendment.
The 6-3 ruling was the court’s second important decision on the right to “keep and bear arms.” In a landmark 2008 decision, the court said for the first time that the amendment safeguards a person’s right to possess firearms, although the decision was limited to keeping guns at home for self-defense.
The court has now taken that ruling to the next step after years of ducking the issue and applied the Second Amendment beyond the limits of homeowners’ property.
Justice Thomas says in the intro that the court is holding: “that the Second and Fourteenth Amendments PROTECT an individual’s right to carry a handgun for self-defense OUTSIDE the home.”
JUSTICE THOMAS: “Nothing in the Second Amendment’s text draws a home/public distinction with respect to the right to keep and bear arms, and the definition of “bear” naturally encompasses public carry.”
…
JUSTICE LEAGUE:
WINNING 🚨 In a 6-3 vote, the Supreme Court STRIKES DOWN a New York gun-control law that required people to show “proper cause” to get a license to carry a concealed handgun outside the home.
BRIAN CATES:
Laws like the one SCOTUS just struck down were always a direct infringement on citizen’s 2nd Amendment rights.
The government telling the citizen, “Show me you really need it and I’ll let you exercise this particular constitutional right!” was always a bad faith argument and this should have been done DECADES AGO.
BUT I’LL TAKE IT!
Now you know why there’s a a MAJOR PUSH to get Red Flag Laws passed right this minute.
The Left suspected this ruling was coming and their immediate counter to the Supreme Court doing this is to instantly try to install a national system for taking guns away from as many patriots as possible by having them labeled ‘unstable’, ‘domestic terrorism suspects’, etc.
You can’t carry a gun concealed in public if some anonymous stranger reported your suspicious social media posting to authorities and you got red flagged and the cops came and took all your firearms.
…
REPEATING !!!

This was a no brainier but I’m happy someone is talking about it
Thomas is excellent!
Heh. Hocus-pocus Hochul can suck on that with her RAT-FACE.
The problem with applying for a permit now is that her gestapo – the New Yorkistan state police – will know who has at least one gun.
I’m not at all concerned about a ‘background check’ – never been arrested, never needed a psych eval, had Top Secret clearances in both the Marine Corps and when I worked for the federal government in the District of Criminals.
I AM concerned about them knowing I might own a gun.
I shouldn’t have to get a friggin’ permit. Period.
This doesn’t mean they are not gonna pass this red flag law. They are still trying to do it— as Tucker said they know now that we know they betrayed us. This is their last hurrah
Yes, but today’s ruling by the Supreme Court will take a lot of wind out of their sails. I don’t think the House will get the votes needed to push the Senate’s version through. DOA.
