President Trump is a war time president, and as such, can command whatever forces he deems necessary to protect and defend the homeland. In particular, the US Marines report directly to him in war and in peace times.

My opinion is that the US Marines (at the behest of President Trump) might be protecting the “resident” when he’s in the WH, otherwise known as “keeping an eye on him” and the comings and goings of others.
