Has anyone seen the interview with Trump and Dr Phil ? Dr Phil seems to accuse Trump of allowing the Chinese to buy up lots of land around US military bases here in the country . A friend sent me a clip of it but DID not include the Trump response to the hint of blame. I can’t find it. I would really like some clarification and insight . Thank you.
That was also happening during Obummer. As to whether Trump or (more likely) Obummer deliberately allowed it, I ask: is it currently possible legally or logistically to 100% stop them?
Passing a law ain’t gonna happen. Too many dual citizens, Dems, and chamber of commerce R’s in Congress.
Ok so maybe write an EO targeting only foreign adversaries? Sort of like Trump’s EO seizing the assets of various terrorists and human traffickers?
But they are already using American citizen cutouts and shell companies to escape detection.
In order to prevent the foreign adversary buying of land, even through cutouts, you’d have to add CIA-hiring style background checks to every real estate transaction, which would put an undue burden on commerce and privacy, and easily create a way later to deny domestic political enemies, ie patriots.
I suppose you could just require an affidavit at the closing table, and then deem any subsequent shell transactions discovered as fraudulent transfers and reverse them in court. This would put the burden on the back end instead of on all new real estate transactions, but you’d still have to detect the subterfuge which probably won’t be apparent until too late.
Any way you slice it, all a president could personally do is write an EO.
